SLCC / Mtn Hoops Showcase Recap
80 players from Utah, Idaho, and Nevada showed up this past weekend to play in the Salt Lake CC / Mountain Hoops Showcase. Here are some of the guys that stood out:
Alrek Greenlaugh — 6’0″ G – Timpview High School (2019)
Alrek has a shot to be an impact player for Timpview. He scored the ball very well in this event and showed some good athleticism.
Hayden Blonquist — 6’4″ G – North Summit (2019)
Hayden is a freak athlete and can get his shot off easily because of his jumping ability. He had several nice dunks during the showcase. He was measured by Player Data LLC with a 6’6″ wingspan and 39″ max vertical leap and reached 11’5″ at the peak of his jump.
Dyson Frank — 6’6″ F – Jordan HS (2019)
Dyson plays bigger than his height because of his 6’11” wingspan (according to Player Data LLC). This athlete is very strong and showed some nice shooting touch from the perimeter. He reached 11’5″ at the peak of his jump.
Cameron Brady — 6’6″ F – Cottonwood HS (Post Grad)
Cameron is the brother of former SLCC & Utah Valley standout Jordan Brady. Jordan played in the NBA Developmental League for a while and is now the head coach of the Wisconsin Herd (NBA G-League team). Cam has great length (6’9″ wingspan according to Player Data LLC) and reached as high as 11’6″ at the top of his jump. He has a nice jumper and should end up on a college roster somewhere.
Chayse Mims — 6’5″ F – Brighton HS (Post Grad)
Chayse plays far bigger than his height due to his 6’11” wingspan (can reach 11’6″ at peak of jump) and good athleticism (36″ max vertical). He is a great rebounder & finisher at the rim. He needs to improve his jump shot but should be a college player at some level.
Hunter Severe — 6’10” C – Uintah HS (2018)
Hunter was listed as 6’8″ on the event sign-up but was surprised to learn that he measured in at a legitimate 6’10” with shoes on. He is very strong & takes up a ton of space in the paint. At 250 pounds, he needs to become more mobile but could develop into a solid big at the next level.
Samuel Phipps — 6’4″ F – Mountain Crest (2020)
Samuel is one of the biggest sleepers in the state of Utah. He has great length (6’8″ wingspan, reached 11’1″ at peak of jump according to Player Data LLC) and some good skill to go along with it. This athlete attacks the basket well and has been able to hit the perimeter shot consistently. If he can get stronger and grow a bit more, we believe he is a Division 1 player.
Alex Lamb — 6’2″ G – Roy HS (2018)
Alex had an excellent showcase. He showed freak athleticism (41″ max vertical leap, reached 11’5″ at peak). Lamb has good length with a 6’4″ wingspan, which makes him an excellent rebounding guard. He showed good perimeter shooting & ability to handle the ball. He needs to improve his point guard skills.
Raimoana Tinirauarii — 6’3″ G – Juan Diego HS (2019)
Raimoana showed good athleticism with a 37″ inch vertical and reached 11’2″ at the top of his jump. He scored the ball well & showed toughness in defending & rebounding. This will be his break-out year at Juan Diego.
