Recruiting Report: Tyrease Terrell (2019)
Northshore 6-foot-3 guard Tyrease Terrell currently checks in as Louisiana’s 46th-ranked 2019, and still with two high school seasons left, has already started hearing from a couple in-state D1 programs.
The recruitment is light, but with his great size and desire to improve and evolve his skill-set, Terrell could see that interest turn into offers before too long.
“Schools in the mix right now are Southeastern and Nicholls State, they have a little interest,” said Terrell.
“It’s been direct contact. I met the Nicholls State coach at a camp, and I met the Southeastern coach at one of our summer league tournaments.”
After a 16U offseason spent honing his skills, he’s expecting big things come his 17U season next spring and summer.
“I expect to have many offers by the end of my 17U AAU season, I have low-major and mid-major D1 expectations right now.”
Known as a sharpshooter, Terrell has been working the past six months to diversify his skill-set, and become more of a point guard than off guard.
“My strength is being more of a shooter and creating my own shot. And with my shot, people like to step out on me and that’s when I like to make my move and get to hoop,” he said.
“Over the summer, I started to work on being more of a point guard, and my ball-handling has got better and I’m able to make plays more.”
Terrell played some grassroots ball this spring and summer, and spent a lot of his time working with trainers.
“I was working with my trainers a lot too, just working on morphing into a point guard, because in college that’s one of the positions I will play,” he said.
“Athleticism and ball-handling is what I improved on most. Before, I was just a shooter.”
With a talented group returning, Terrell says the goals are lofty for him and for Northshore this season.
“We should have a really good season, and make it far in the playoffs, if not win it all. We have some stars and a decent amount of role players,” said Terrell.
“This winter, I’m expecting to pick up a couple of D1 offers, maybe D2 offers. I’m expecting to be top 10 ranked in my class as well for the state of Louisiana because I’ve improved a lot since last season.”
