Recruiting Report: Martin Macenis (2019)
Stagg 2019 small forward Martin Macenis is a big wing with size and projectability. Macenis has a European type game. His size allows him to see over the defense and he makes plays in both the half court and in transition. Really handles the ball well for his size. His best asset is his shooting. Deep range on his shot with a bit of a long release, but he makes it consistently. Macenis is a D1 prospect at the mid-major and low-major levels.
He was one of the highest rated players at the PrepHoops Top 250 Expo this spring and talked about the camp.
“It was fun. It was a good experience. Lots of new players I have never seen before. It was a good experience. I played ok. I could have played better, but I thought I played pretty well.”
Macenis made a name with ET21 on the circuit.
“It was great. We played well against a good level of competition. I didn’t do too bad.”
He broke down his game and what he can bring to a team at the next level.
“I can score. I am a slasher. I can shoot from the three. I have good court vision and play the game smart. High basketball IQ.”
What is going on with recruiting?
“I have a couple schools looking at me. UIC, UAB, and Central Michigan are talking to me.”
