Recruiting Report: Keegan O’Neil (2018)
Delano will be a popular pick to get to the state tournament this upcoming season. A big part of that is the return of a terrific backcourt but another extremely important cog in the cause is senior forward Keegan O’Neil.
O’Neil was busy this past summer, playing AAU ball with Crossfire while also getting a lot of action with his high school team. He also spent a lot of time in the gym on his own not only improving his overall game, but getting into the best physical condition he could.
“I definitely think I improved my game this summer,” said O’Neil. “AAU, summer ball with my school team and I worked a lot on developing my game on my own. I also picked up crossfit during the summer and will continue to do that to continue to improve my strength and cardio.”
At 6-foot-7, O’Neil’s got a diverse set of skills that make him an intriguing prospect at the next level. He’s got great touch out to the 3-point line and is a creative passer. He’s also got the range to defend from the perimeter to the rim. He’s drawn his share of college interest because of it.
“I’m still hearing from a number of schools,” said O’Neil. “Especially Concordia, St. Johns and Gustavus Adolphus a lot lately. I have also gotten some interest from out-of-state schools. I’m looking to take some more visits and move forward from there.”
Of course O’Neil’s also got big plans for this upcoming winter as he’ll anchor a Delano team that has state tournament aspirations.
“I am very excited for the high school season to start,” said O’Neil. “We have a good core group returning and some new faces ready to step up. I expect a very successful and competitive season this year. I have high expectations for myself as well.”
