Recruiting Report: Jeremiah Hernandez (2019)
St. Viator 2019 small forward Jeremiah Hernandez is a smooth wing with quality size. Plays best in the open floor as a transition player. His combination of handles, athleticism, and basketball IQ make him a tough cover. He weaves in and out of the defense getting his way to the rim. Pull up three point shoot looks good and he also drives well in the half court slashing to the rim. Plays with good pace. Length helps him on the defensive end of the floor. Top 20 prospect is a D1 talent.
He bounced around to a few travel teams, but settled in with Young & Reckless in July.
“I think it went real well. I finished out with Young & Reckless. It was a real family atmosphere. They took me in. Workouts were good. I did my thing with them and got exposure.”
How are things going preparing for next season at St. Viator?
“We are going to be real good. We are going hard every day in open gym. Coach has been preparing us for that. He has talked to us about that and with the talent we have if we compete with each other we are going too far. Me and Peter Lambsis go at each other every day. That is a great thing.”
He updated us on his recruitment.
“I got my first offer from Cal Poly. Kent State was at open gym. Minnesota was there. South Dakota was there. I am getting a lot of calls and texts.”
He was excited about Cal Poly when they offered him.
“Coach is a great guy. It was unexpected. I didn’t think a California school would be my first offer. Looking at the campus and the coach has told me what I need to do better.”
Southern Illinois and Northern Illinois also recently offered Hernandez.
