Recruiting Report: Isaiah Saulsberry (2018)
Isaiah Saulsberry is one of the better unsigned 2018 prospects in southern Illinois. The Harrisburg senior is a smooth shooting guard that has good muscle tone in his arms. Everything he does is just extremely smooth! Moves well without the ball to get open with crisp curls and is always ready to let it fly as soon as it touches his hands. He is definitely best as a perimeter marksmen that is equally effective pulling up from mid-range and hitting from three off the catch. Mixes in some drives as well. He is a quality athlete that makes acrobatic finishes at the cup. Competes on the defensive end. Will need to add strength going forward. Low-major consideration, but probably best suited at a high level D2 program.
How did his summer go with the Illinois Bears?
“It went pretty good. I think we could have done better, but I think I got better in my game and got a lot stronger. Quicker.”
He chatted with us about where his game improved the most.
“Being a leader and pushing the ball up the floor. Moving without the ball.”
What does he feel he can bring to a team at the next level?
“I can shoot the ball well. I can shoot off the dribble. I can take it to the hole when I need too. Being a great passer.”
Harrisburg will be one of the top teams in southern Illinois this season, but he has bigger goals than that.
“Going to state and winning state.”
Where do things stand with recruiting?
“I have interest from SMSU who said they are going to offer me when I go on a visit there. UIS they have showed some interest and want to see me play more.”
Southwest Minnesota State is looking into the scoring guard.
“I don’t know much about them yet. They have been contacting me and texting me. They want me to visit campus.”
He is planning on taking an official visit there at some point. What is the next step for him in the recruiting process?
“The next step is getting seen and getting my name out there. I will sign in the late period.”
He told us what he will be looking for in a school.
“A great program with a great education and somewhere I fit in.”
Saulsberry is the #45 overall prospect in the state’s 2018 class.
