Recruiting Report: Davon Walker (2019)
Five-foot-8 point guard Davon Walker of Grandview High School played with Boykins Academy this 16u year and it’s had a big affect on Walker as a player.
“The top highlights of this summer would definitely be our two tournament wins in Dallas and Kansas,” Walker said. “I feel I’ve grown as a floor general as well as gained valuable experience in high pressure situations where I had to deliver for my team.
“Also, this summer has helped me work on some of the flaws in my game in order to make them strengths.”
Earl Boykins being Davon’s coach has pushed Walker to another level as a player.
“The most influential players I’ve met in my life would definitely be my Club coach Earl Boykins along with my trainer Brian Howard,” Davon said.
Tony Parker and Chris Paul are Davon’s current favorite players and the group of people helping Walker have him focused on bettering the physical part of his game.
“My main focus has primarily been to get stronger along with improving my conditioning preparing for the long season ahead.”
A year ago Davon put up ten points, three boards, two steals, and 2.5 assists a game for the 10-14 Wolves. A big jump is expected for the 17-18 season.
“Expectations are high for the team this year,” Davon told Prep Hoops. “We have the majority of the core of our team returning besides some seniors, but we feel we can be just as successful as last year and compete for a state championship.
“The team’s confidence is high and we can’t wait for the season to begin. My main goal this season is to help lead my team to a state championship this year.”
Walker is also thinking about college basketball. A visit has been set.
“I plan on having an unofficial visit to Concordia University in the coming weeks along with a few other colleges throughout the next year,” Walker said.
