Utah’s 35th-ranked 2018, Roy senior Alex Lamb has been hearing from a slew of Northwest college programs of late, and has a big senior season ahead to showcase himself.
The interest has been coming in from a wide-range of schools, and Lamb says that if the situation and the fit is right, he’d love to play hoops in college.
“I’ve been talked to a little bit from Centralia College in Washington, and my coach has told me that Westminster College has talked him a little bit about me. I talked to Utah State just a little bit last year,” said Lamb.
“I just went to a showcase recently, and Dawson Community College liked me and said they want to keep in touch. And then College of Eastern Utah, I’ve been in touch with them a little bit.”
Lamb added: “I would like to play college basketball in the right circumstances. I don’t want to go to a bad place to play. If it’s a good fit for myself and I feel like it’s a good opportunity, I’d love to play in college.”
Lamb is a 6-foot-2 combo guard, who could bring a lot to a college program. He mentioned his specific skill-set during our recent phone interview.
“My biggest strength is attacking the basket, I do really well at getting by people and getting to the basket and finishing. I do a good job at seeing the floor and getting my guys open shots,” he said.
“I’m a pretty decent shooter, and I’ve been working on that a lot this offseason. And I’ve been working on my leadership, too.”
Though he did not play much of any grassroots ball this spring and summer, he was working a lot on his own, honing his skills with an individual trainer.
“I’ve been going to a shooting coach ever since my junior season ended to improve my shot,” he said. “So, I’ve been working on that a lot and doing that three or four times a week.”
This coming season will be his third year starting with Royals, and Lamb says leadership and experience will be his main contributions to the team.
“My biggest goal is to make the playoffs and go as far as we can. And I’m looking to lead the team, because I’ve been playing since my freshman year and have learned a lot,” he said.
“I want to help by scoring a lot and getting other guys involved, and just doing what I can to help my team win.”
