“FAB48” Showcase 2019 Review
Nashville, TN., the site city where our 2017 Prospects On The Rize “FAB48” Showcase took place. This year’s “FAB48” was loaded with talent. The event brought in players from Ala., Ga., IL., Ind., and TN. Everyone came in to put in work. The height ranged from 5’11 to 6’8 and the talent level included guys who are solid D2, D1 Mid Major, with several high D1 to boast.
Class of 2019 review:
Kareem Thompson, 6’4 SG
This years “FAB 48” showcase was loaded with talent out of the class of 2019. Led by Co-All Star MVP, Kareem “Cool” Thompson. Thompson, a 6’4 (SG) from Florence High School, Florence, Al. and Team SAC AAU is a pure shooter with range. the camp scouts said that he’s like a young Reggie Miller, and that’s saying a lot. Thompson’s game is as cool as a nice fall day in October. He can hit the deep ball with the best of them, and when you think that you have stopped or locked down from getting his shot off, the kid can freeze you with a variety of hesitation moves and has next level dribbling abilities to create off the bounce. He sees the floor so well in transition it allows his teammates to get easy baskets. Thompson is a major D1 prospect. Thompson was selected to the “FAB48” All Star team.
Maxwell Rone, 6’8 C
Our big man in this class is none other than Maxwell Rone. Rone, is a 6’7 post that’s a beast in the paint for Sparkman High School, Madison, Al. and Team SAC AAU. He’s physical, plays hard and commands the paint with respect. He’s a wide body and snatches everything that comes off the rim. Rone has great range from 15ft., can face up and has great footwork with his back to the basket. Coaches remeber this name because he comes out of a school that places a lot of good D1 college ball players, and he’s another great one on that list. With another year to develop, Rone has D1 potential in his future. Rone was selected to the “FAB48” All-Star team
Ashton Young, 6’4 SF/PF
Ashton Young, the 6’4 sturdy (SF/PF) who played well all weekend, is from Friendship Christian High School, Mt. Juliet, Tn. and Lakeside Elites AAU. The Kevin Love of the group. All he does is quietly goes out and put up numbers on the stat sheet. Young makes very few mistakes and plays within his game with consistency. He’s a double-double guy, and as he increases his ability to handle the ball, the kids stock will rise. He scores in bunches and shoots well from mid range. Like Kevin Love if left open, he can step back to knock down the 3 ball. He has two years to improve his overall game, and the scouts like what they saw. Expect big things from Young to come. Selected to the “FAB48” All-Star team
Montre’ Boddie 5’6 PG
Our top two guards in this class were Montre’ Boddie and Gregory Flint. Boddie, a 5’6 (PG) from West Grove High School, Clarksville, Tn. and Ft. Campbell Snipers had a great showcase. Boddie, is lighting quick, handles the ball well and has range on his jump shot. He can score quickly and put up points in a hurry. He attacks the rim and can finish in traffic. He also commits to and plays great on the defensive end. If you have a shaky ball handler, Boddie will pick him. He has another year to get better, and he has the opportunity to open some coach’s eyes. Selected to “FAB48” All-Star team.
Gregory Flint, 6’0 PG
The most surprising guard in this class was Gregory Flint. Flint, the 6’0 (PG) is the teammate of Brian Sears at Muscle Shoals High School, Muscle Shoals, Al. and Team SAC AAU. Flint played great at this years “FAB 48” showcase, and the scouts thought the best part of his game is his ability to play lock down defense. With Sears demanding the ball for Muscle Shoals, after coming off a State of Alabama title run, Flint has the opportunity to develop into a great floor general. I expect big things out of this kid over the next year to come. He is on the national radar, and coaches will be inquiring about his services, quickly. Selected to “FAB48” All-Star team.
Special notables:
Franklin Daniel, Jr. 6’1 SG
Mr. utility was Franklin Daniel, the 6’1 (SG) from Stewart’s Creek High School, Murfreesboro, Tn. and Tennessee EDGE AAU showcased his defensive skills, diving for loose balls and grabbing rebounds. Playing along side of Platt, Daniel will help give Stewart’s Creek a big lift this season.
Benjamin Pitts, 5’10 PG
Benjamin Pitts, Hazel Green High School, Al. and Team Sac AAU; Selected to the FAB48 All-Star team
Cameron Turner, 5’7 PG
Cameron Turner, Athens High School, Athens, Al. and Team Sac AAU; Selected to the FAB48 All-Star team
Daniel Davis, 5’11 PG
Daniel Davis, Hillsboro High School, Nashville, Tn.,
Jaylen Negron, 6’2 SG
Jaylen Negron, a West Creek High School, Clarksville, Tn. and Ft. Campbell Snipers; Selected to the FAB48 All-Star team
Tre’ Vaughn, 5’11 SG
Tre’Vaughn, Martin Luther King High School, Nashville, Tn. and Tennessee Edge AAU. Vaughn a streaky shooter but when he has it going, it’s hard to stop him.
