Prospects On The Rize “FAB48” 2018 Review
Nashville, TN., the site city where our 2017 Prospects On The Rize “FAB48” Showcase took place. This year’s “FAB48” was loaded with talent. The event brought in players from Ala., Ga., IL., Ind., and TN. Everyone came in to put in work. The height ranged from 5’11 to 6’8 and the talent level included guys who are solid D2, D1 Mid Major, with several high D1 to boast
Class of 2018 Review:
Rashe France, 6’4 SG
As we turn our attention to the class of 2018, we will showcase some of the best talent this class has to offer. Focusing on our other Co-All Star MVP, Rashe France, the 6’4 (SG/SF) from Mitchell High School, Memphis, Tn. and MM33 AAU plays tough on both ends of the floor. He goes hard all the time, kind of a high-energy guy. He’s more of a stretch 3, but has the handles and jumper to play the deuce. Coupled with Glass at Mitchell High School, Memphis, TN, he will help them get back to the Tennessee State Championship again. France adds depth and talent to an already talented group of athletes at Mitchell. He’s is on the radar with college coaches and I expect plenty of request for his services. He must continue to work on his shot and ball handling as he increases his looks from college coaches.
.
Roderick Glass, 6’5 SF
Roderick Glass, the 6’5 (SF), is the second piece of the Batman and Robin show for Mitchell High School, Memphis, Tn. and M32P22 AAU. Glass came to the event with something to prove. The normally high flying, in game dunker, came to the “FAB48” showcase with a completely different bag of tricks and an arsenal of talent. He stepped out on the wing with his jumper, slashed to the basket against the bigs, dove on the floor for loose balls, rebound well, and moved without the ball, allowing him to stuff his stats. When you have a player that can give you stats in all categories, college coaches will simply fall in love with him. The transfer from Central High School, Memphis, TN to Mitchell High School will almost certainly make Mitchell High School a contender, again for the State of Tennessee Championship in March 2018. Both he and France, will make Mitchell a top ranked team for the State of Tennessee. Prediction top 5 team in the State by tournament time. Glass is getting looks from some mid major D1 programs, and I expect that number to grow. He’s on our under the radar guy list.
TJ Anderson, 6’5 SF
Terrance (TJ) Anderson, the 6’5 (SF) from Ramsey High School, Birmingham, AL. and Magic City Lakers AAU came to the “FAB48” with the full package. He plays bigger than his height and position. Anderson defended bigs, wings and guards showing his versatility to guard at all positions. The standout from Ramsey High School will push for a State Championship run in 2018, in Alabama. Alabama has a lot of talent and this kids part of that crop. If you are looking for a next level wing, TJ Anderson needs to be mentioned in that conversation. He needs to continue to increase his consistency with his jumpshot and add more ball handling to his game. He’s a natural athlete and coaches are going to be able to use him at multiple positions at the next level. He currently has several mid major programs inquiring and if he has a breakout senior year, watch this kid stock rise.
Justin Johnson, 6’6 PF
As we turn our attention to Southern Illinois, we were blessed to have a physical Dennis Rodman like post player in the paint this year for the 2017 “FAB48” showcase. Justin Johnson, the 6’6 (PF/C) from Marion High School, Marion, Illinois and Tennessee EDGE AAU made the trip down to test his talents against some of the best players in the south. I was great to see him battle the other big men in camp says, Coach Thompson. He played well and showed flashes of great footwork and beautiful on his mid-range jumper. Johnson is a 6’6 post who loves playing back to the basket in the post. College coaches, I hope you are reading this. We don’t have many back to the basket guys in our game anymore and Johnson, Rone and Chaudion were 3 really good post in our showcase that shows us that ability. The scouts loved Johnson, because he was a big that loved to run the floor, rim to rim. He grabs everything off the rim and physical around the basket. He needs to work on post footwork and increase his strength. Once he starts dunking his put backs, watch out because college coaches ask for his services quickly. He is starting to get several looks in the Southern Illinois area from small schools and with a solid senior season, he has the ability to write his own ticket. He currently has several D3 and D2 schools inquiring.
Cole Chaudion, 6’7 SF/PF
The most surprising big man in this years showcase was Cole Chaudion, the 6’7 (SF/PF) post that transferred from Martin Luther King High School, Nashville, Tn. and Tennessee EDGE AAU had his hands full playing against talented bigs in this years “FAB48” showcase. Chaudion has transferred to Gordonsville High School, Gordonsville, Tn. and has made an immediate impact upon his arrival. The scouts loved the way he rebounded well and had various beautiful moves in the paint. He has great footwork, but needs to improve on ball handling, strength and becoming more consistent on his jumper. He can score going to either hand and can step away fromt he basket to knock down an ocassional 3. Chaudion has several nationally ranked D3 programs asking for his services. With a huge senior season, coach Thompson thinks he can open several D2 coaches doors. If he keeps working on his games, the opportunities are going to get better for him.
Kaleb Mack, 6’4 SG/SF
Kaleb Mack, the 6’4 (SG/SF) who looks like a college linebacker is a tough nosed plays the wing for Sparkman High School, Madison, Al. and Alabama Dream AAU. Speaking to the scouts and coach Thompson, Mack, hands down, had the best attitude in the showcase. He’s funny, jovial, and gets along with his teammates well, but once he laces up his shoes, it time for business. Mack played outstanding the 2017 “FAB48” showcase. He is a physical player with great size. Teammate of Max Rone. They are going to be a tough put out. He was tough on the glass, came up with several steals, and multiple big time moves to the basket. He can knock down the 3 and bring the ball up the court when guards are not available. The best part of his game is in transition, because of his size, he’s to strong for small guards and wings to handle, and he’s to quick for most post to defend. Keep your eyes on Mack, because he’s just getting started. College coaches are starting to inquire about him and with a solid senior year, he’ll be playing next level with no problems.
Anthony Pollard, Jr. 5’7 PG
Although, one of the smallest guards in this years showcase, Anthony Pollard, Jr., the 5’7 (PG) from Smyrna High School, Smyrna, Tn. and Tennessee EDGE AAU is as quick as they come. Pollard has come a long way from the beginning of the summer up until the “FAB48” showcase, says Coach Thompson. His ability to understand next level basketball was slowing him down, but the kid worked hard in practice everyday and gave more focus to getting better. Now, it has started to pay off for him, and he played well in this years showcase. Showing flashes of speed and quickness, the kid played above the rim amongst the trees, as he attacked the basket. The kid has great defensive footwork. If he continues to work hard on this jump shot and ball handling, this kid has the ability to be the best surprise from Smyrna High School, during the 2017-2018 season.
