Prospect Spotlight: Jayshun Miller (2020)
An up-and-coming 6-foot point guard, Homer’s Jayshun Miller has a big sophomore season ahead and him, where he’ll look to capitalize on a hugely successful freshman campaign.
A slasher who likes to set his teammates up for success, Miller mentioned to PHLA what his playing style is.
“I like to attack on the offensive end, and my strength is my ability to drive the ball into the lane,” said Miller. “And I need to work more on my leadership.”
After a spring and summer playing with Louisiana Select 15U, Miller says he improved his point guard skills, and became a better all-around playmaker.
“I played point guard, so my role was to be the floor general. I would create open shots and kick the ball out. But when we needed a bucket, I would go get it,” said Miller.
“And on the defensive end, I was trying to get better. I was trying to just make it difficult for my man to score. I think I got better at that.”
Last season with the Pelicans, Miller was the starting point guard as a freshman, and averaged 18 points and 6 assists. This season, his leadership will be key.
“They’re going to depend on me to be more of a leader,” said Miller. “And I’m just trying to win.”
