Prospect Spotlight: Bo Oranye (2019)
Georgetown Prep junior Bo Oranye is one of the most improved players in the program, and has a chance to make an impact this season. At 6-foot-4, he is a long lanky athlete that can do a variety of things on both ends of the floor.
“I think I’m an all around player,” said Oranye, who spent his sophomore season on the JV team. “I’ve been playing competitively since 8th grade. I just try to learn new things.”
We were very impressed with Oranye’s performance during pickup earlier this week. He understands that he is in a position to provide value to this team, and is taking the opportunity to prove that he can compete.
“The most improved part of my game is my consistency,” Oranye stated. “And my competitiveness. I’m playing on a higher level, so I have to step up my game.”
Oranye admittedly needs to work on his ball handling. His stamina is also an area of focus as he often finds himself gasping for wind during pickup games. Oranye says he’s doing well in school, with all A’s and just one B.
“My jumping ability is underrated,” Oranye explained. “I think people can go up with me, but that’s not true.”
What can Oranye bring to Georgetown Prep, and to a program at the next level?
“I think I can bring the team together. I feel like I’m a really good team player. Also the liveliness, and sportsmanship. I get everyone together.”
