Preseason All-Conference: War Eagle
Preseason Player of the Year: Nicholas Ruden, St. Mary’s, Remsen (2018)
After a tremendous regular season last winter, Ruden was able to display his skill-set on the state’s biggest stage at the state tournament, where he was one of the standout players at the event. He’ll try to lead his Hawks back to Wells Fargo Arena this season with his hybrid inside/outside prowess.
First Team (2016-17 stats in italics)
Nicholas Ruden, St. Mary’s, Remsen (2018) 15.9 PPG, 58 FG%, 39 3FG%, 5.4 RPG
The 6’4 forward led his team in scoring, field goal percentage, blocks and rebounds last season, and that was one of the best teams in the state. He’ll post huge numbers this season, and should pick up plenty of college interest as a result.
Carson Louscher, South O’Brien (2018) 15.4 PPG, 7.0 RPG
One of the better rebounders in the conference, Louscher pulled down seven per game, but scores with the best of them, too. The 6’1 wing will spearhead the Wolverines attack this season, and could post 20 points per game in the process.
Nick Jacobs, Akron-Westfield (2019) 14.9 PPG, 39 3FG%
The conference’s leading returning 3-point maker, Jacobs connected on 70 outside shots as a sophomore and did so at a respectable 39 percent clip. He’ll look to get that percentage up over 40 as he leads the Westerners this season.
Jake Lynott, West Sioux (2018) 13.3 PPG, 50 FG%, 4.7 APG, 5.0 RPG
Watch out for the Falcons this season. Lynott is a do-it-all point guard, who will score efficiently and assists with the best of them. He could have the Falcons up on top of the conference this winter.
Hunter Dekkers, West Sioux (2020) 14.3 PPG, 41 3FG%, 2.8 APG
A young gun, Dekkers was one of the state’s best freshman last season, and will make a debut in the forthcoming 2020 rankings because of it. He’ll aid Lynott in a West Sioux resurgence this winter.
