Palmetto State : Region 5-AAAA Players to Watch
Region 5-AAAA located in the Midlands is loaded with talent from top to bottom here.
Diamante Brown (2018) – A.C. Flora HS
Brown should look to improve on his stats with the departure Christian Brown to nearby foe Lower Richland. Brown is physically gifted and skilled at the combo forward position. Brown played AAU with Upward Stars Southeast 2018.
Simon Grant (2018) – Dreher HS
Grant led the Blue Devils to the 3rd Round of the SCHSL Playoffs before losing to the Diamond Hornets of Lower Richland HS. Grant a combo guard averaged 17.5 ppg last season has a knack to score the ball all over the floor. Grant played with the South Carolina Kings on the AAU Circuit.
Travis “TJ” Brown (2018) – Dreher HS
Brown a wing player had a good summer showing with local AAU squad Lower Richland Promise. Brown a rangy player with good athleticism. Brown shows to have a solid nice-mid-range game.
Tevaughn Huggins (2018) – Lower Richland HS
Huggins was the glue guy last season for the eventual 4-A State Champions. Huggins wasn’t afraid to throw his body around while also playing quarterback on the football field. Huggins should have a good season for the Diamond Hornets.
Yohannes Utsey (2018) – Orangeburg-Wilkinson HS
Utsey 6’6 blue collar kid in post player likes to play on contact. Utsey averaged 16 ppg and 10 rebounds last season for the Bruins. Utsey plays with his back to the basket and never roams outside the paint.
Jordan Snell (2018) – Orangeburg-Wilkinson HS
Snell a shooting guard should help the Bruins makee some noise this season under new Head Coach Willie Thomas. Snell a catch-shooting guard has great range on his shot.
Daniel Finney (2019) – A.C. Flora HS
Finney a high energy kid should be more of a factor this season this with Brown moving on. Finney played AAU this summer with the Karolina Khaos. Finney 6’6 combo forward is a great athlete and should form a solid 1-2 punch with Brown Diamante Brown in the Falcons lineup.
Christian Brown (2019) – Lower Richland HS (pictured on front)
Brown is the cream of the crop in this talented region. Brown transferred this summer from region foe A.C. Flora HS to Lower Richland HS. Brown averaged 15.1 ppg last season for the Falcons. Brown is ranked the #1 in the Palmetto State 2019 Class. Brown played this summer with Game Elite 2019.
Brown a high level kid with a great motor NEVER takes a play off while on the floor.
Region 5-AAAA looks to have some promising young players and Prep Hoops will have a chance to see them all this coming season.
