Overall Prospect Rankings: #41 – #45
In September we released our rankings for the classes of 2018 and 2019. What if you took those classes along with 2020 and did an overall ranking regardless of class? This is what they would look like!
Today we unveil prospects #41 – #45!
#41 PF Nate Ferguson (Lemont – 2019)
Last Year’s Rank: NR
Ferguson is a 6’7” four man that broke out this spring and summer with Chicago Lockdown. He is an active post that does a nice job on the glass keeping second chance opportunities alive for his team. Soft touch around the hoop and can handle it a little facing up.
#42 SG Malachi Smith (Belleville West – 2018)
Last Year’s Rank: NR
Smith is a pure scorer from the two guard position. He is transferring to Belleville West this year after being the running mate of Javon Pickett the last three seasons and Belleville East. Smith is a scorer that finishes well in the paint and also has a solid jump shot stretching it out to three on occasion.
#43 SF Jayden Johnson (Batavia – 2020)
Last Year’s Rank: NR
Johnson has really emerged after a monster close to AAU season and shining in several camps. He is a tough wing that has a very high skill level. Shoots it exceptionally well from the perimeter and makes them both off the catch and pulling up. Overall game continues to improve.
#44 PG Maurice Commander (Curie – 2018)
Last Year’s Rank: NR
Commander is one of the state’s top point guards in the senior class. He is making the move over to Curie from Marist where he won CCL player of the year as a junior. Smart lefty point guard that runs a team, is strong with the ball, and can score with his pull up jumper. Works well in ball screens.
#45 PG Xavier Pinson (Simeon – 2018)
Last Year’s Rank: NR
Pinson broke out as a junior at St. Patrick’s and took it to another level on the circuit this spring with the Mac Irvin Fire NY2LA team being one of the top players on that circuit. Tough to stay in front of with his speed and slippery quickness in the half court. Jump shot and decision making both dramatically improved. Impact transfer for Simeon.
