Overall Prospect Rankings: #36 – #40
In September we released our rankings for the classes of 2018 and 2019. What if you took those classes along with 2020 and did an overall ranking regardless of class? This is what they would look like!
Today we unveil prospects #36 – #40!
#36 SG Anthony Fairlee (Springfield Southeast – 2019)
Last Year’s Rank: #40
Fairlee is a freak athlete. As we have said many times the best pure athlete in the state with his combination of jumping, speed, power, and quickness. Explosive in the transition game and rebounds well. Projects as a plus defender. Like the progress we saw with his jumper late in the July live period.
#37 SF Ethan Helwig (Metea Valley – 2019)
Last Year’s Rank: NR
Helwig emerged with a strong summer for the Illinois Stars. He is a skilled 6’4” small forward with length. Scores in a variety of ways. Athletic driver that gets in the lane and can finish at the cup in transition. Plus shooter from all over the floor with a feathery shot.
#38 Artese Stapleton (Kenwood – 2019)
Last Year’s Rank: NR
Stapleton was another July stock booster with his play for Young & Reckless. The Kenwood lead guard will step into a key role on his high school team vacated by three seniors and another transfer. It will be his show in the backcourt. Speed, vision, basketball IQ, and defensive tenacity are the strengths in his game.
#39 Dajuan Gordon (Curie – 2019)
Last Year’s Rank: NR
Gordon is a prospect that is going to light up the CPS this year. Long and rangy shooting guard that flat out drills it up from deep! We saw him go off with Team Rose on the circuit shooting it from the perimeter. This kid has a chance to be the real deal.
#40 PG Tyler Cochran (Bolingbrook – 2019)
Last Year’s Rank: NR
Cochran has taken the backseat to a lot of players over the years despite being in the mix ever since his freshman season. This summer for the Hoopers Basketball Club Griffin got all the attention, but Cochran played Robin to his Batman and was great at hitting open shots along with finishing tough around the basket. Crafty defender. Kid is just productive.
