Maryland/DC Rankings Breakdown: 2020 Newcomers
PrepHoops Maryland recently updated the class of 2020 player rankings. Getting a list of 50 players and choosing which rank best fits the individual was very difficult, but we do our best to keep them updated every three months. We love finding out about new players, and we’ve done so since our last update. Here is part our breakdown series featuring newcomers.
DARIUS MADDOX | ST. JOHN’S
Darius Maddox caught our attention this summer at Hoop Group Future All American Camp, where he was a standout. He’s an athletic guard that can score efficiently from three levels, and defends multiple positions effectively. Maddox is improving as a ball handler. He still needs to produce more consistently, but has outstanding potential. Maddox comes in at #18 in our recent rankings update.
KEYSHAWN JOHNSON | WISE
Keyshawn Johnson is a 6’2 guard who was a major impact player for Team BBC this summer. He’s a strong competitor, and a good athlete. Johnson guards multiple positions, and is a creative finisher in traffic. He debuts in our 2020 rankings at #22.
SPENCER HAYES | ST. ANDREW’S
Spencer Hayes is a long lanky wing with good size at 6’3. The sophomore has a chance to be a good defender, and demonstrates decent ability to attack off the bounce. Hayes is our 23rd ranked 2020 prospect.
JUSTIN GREHAM | GOOD COUNSEL
Justin Greham is a steady lead guard with solid intangibles. He gets others involved. Greham enters the 2020 rankings at #32.
COLIN SMALLS | ST. ANDREW’S
Colin Smalls is a true floor general. He gets teammates in their spots, and can knock down a few open shots. Smalls is our 33rd ranked 2020 prospect.
MIKE BROWN | TAKOMA ACADEMY
Mike Brown is an aggressive 6’2 guard that can make shots from the perimeter, and defends multiple positions. He can attack off the dribble, and creates for others. Brown makes his debut in the 2020 rankings at #42
