Intro: Ahamad Bynum (2021)
My first opportunity to see highly touted 2021 shooting guard Ahamad Bynum was at the PrepHoopsIllinois Top 250 Expo this fall. He has built a reputation as one of the top incoming freshman in the state. We saw some of the qualities that other have raved about. Physical kid with a strong upper body and broad shoulders where he can continue to add strength. Plays with an all-out motor. Bynum was a prospect that several of the highly touted 2020 players in attendance raved to me about. He is a beast in transition getting to the rack and finishing through contact. Very explosive with the ball in his hands and attacking downhill. He is a plus rebounder that snatches them and can start the break on his own. Flashy player that sometimes turns the ball over. He likes to be an isolation scorer in one on one situations with his handles and getting to the rim. Jump shot could improve. Showed some flair passing it with a couple nice dishes. Bynum should see minutes for Simeon as a freshman coming off the bench.
How did he feel the PrepHoops Top 250 Expo went?
“It went good. There were a lot of people and a lot of talented players. I think I played good. I got a lot of buckets for my team.”
For those who haven’t seen him he broke down his game.
“Share the ball, shoot it, move around, and get assists.”
He ran with the Mac Irvin Fire 14U this past summer helping them make a deep run at the end of July.
“It went good. We went to the final four in Las Vegas. We have to keep working and get ready for next summer.”
How is it going at Simeon playing against some of the best in the state every day in open gyms?
“That is going good. It is getting me better playing against the varsity. I am excited to play with them.”
