Florida Top 250 Expo Prospect Report: Jaden Golston (2021)
2021 Montverde guard Jaden Golston was one of 33 underclassmen and 86 total prospects in attendance at the Prep Hoops Florida Top 250 Expo on Saturday, Sept. 30th at DME Academy in Daytona Beach.
I sat down with Golston to talk about his time at the expo.
Q: What was your experience like in Daytona at the Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo?
A: My experience in the Prep Hoops Top 250 expo camp was very advisable. The camp was very organized and was put on by industrious coaches. The drills were very good and the coaches pushed us to go 110 percent every attempt. When it came to game time, you could feel the energy and competitiveness in the air. We played four officiated games and my team went undefeated. My experience at the Prep Hoops Top 250 was great.
Q: Where did you first hear about it?
A: I first heard about the Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo from my mom receiving text alerts inviting me. I wanted to go there and show what I can do.
Q: What was the best thing you learned?
A: The best thing I learned at this camp was where my skill level was with some of the top underclassmen in the eastern part of America. This camp gave me a good idea of what I needed to work on and what my strengths and weaknesses are.
Q: What positive in your game grew? What negative in your game did you notice and try to fix?
A: One positive in my game that grew was my leadership and court vision. One negative in my game that I worked on and fixed was my ball-handling. At the camp, I had a problem of dribbling the ball to high but now, I keep a low tight dribble.
Q: Would you recommend the expo to your peers? How come?
A: I would definitely recommend this camp. Although it was only one day, I still learned a lot. Playing against great competition made me think faster and made me more alert.
Q: What is your role looking like this season?
A: My role this upcoming season is to be a leader on the court; someone who can communicate with his teammates and make his whole team better.
Bonus quote: After the fact I appreciate the publicity you have given me and other players. I have been to other camps before and they usually only promote the already known names.
Golston is a mature shooter for a freshman. At 5’10”, he certainly isn’t done growing with his size 11 red Nike’s standing out in the early session. He has long legs and arms and it is clear his best asset is his shot. He can grow into his body and become a more polished attacker as he develops. Golston is a smart young man, evident by his quotes here above. He’s a 2021 prospect to keep a close eye on.
