Florida Top 250 Expo Prospect Report: Floyd Rideau Jr. (2019)
2019 Holy Trinity guard Floyd Rideau Jr. was one of 53 upperclassmen and 86 total prospects in attendance at the Prep Hoops Florida Top 250 Expo on Saturday, Sept. 30th at DME Academy in Daytona Beach.
I sat down with Rideau Jr. to talk about his time at the expo.
Q: What was your experience like in Daytona at the Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo?
A: In Daytona, I had a great experience with meeting new coaches, players and having some players that I felt helped me raise my game a level.
Q: Where did you first hear about it?
A: I got an email about the camp. I had previously talk to my AAU coach about going to the camp.
Q: What was the best thing you learned?
A: The main thing that I learned was the dribbling drills. I feel they will help me in the long term and short term and I have been doing them every day since.
Q: What positive in your game grew? What negative in your game did you notice and try to fix?
A: I feel my aggressiveness when attacking to rim was really improved on. The one thing I felt stood out was my strength but I am in the weight room every day now with a steady workout.
Q: Would you recommend the expo to your peers? How come?
A: Without a doubt, I will tell my teammates from high school and AAU ball about the top 250 camp. It really helped me elevate my game to an entirely new level.
Q: What is your role looking like this season?
A: I talked to my coach about this one and I feel I will be looked on for scoring and being a great “locker room guy.” I also will be pushing to my teammates that we need to play great defense for the entire game to get where we want to be this year, which is state champions.
Rideau Jr. was talked about all day long at the expo by coaches and his teammates in scrimmages. The 6’3″ guard has the ability to play the top four spots on the floor with his length and he has a good understanding of interior scoring. Look for Rideau Jr. to be a big factor at Holy Trinity in his junior campaign.
