Fayetteville Academy 2017/2018 Season Preview
The Fayetteville Academy Eagles will enter their 3rd season under Head Coach James Strong and will look to build on some of the accomplishments of last season which included a regular season and conference tournament conference championship as well as an appearance in the NCISAA 2A State Tournament. The Eagles have quite a few new faces and will need some time to fully mesh but we expect them to be among the contenders for their conference championship once again.
2019 F/C Emmanuel Izunabor: If the Eagles want to be successful, Emmanuel must have a bigtime season. He has the size and has improved every year skillset wise, he blocks shots at a very high rate and has the offensive ability to knock down the short range shot. D1 schools have been dropping in to check him out, although he doesn’t have any offers yet, we fully expect that to change before the season ends.
2019 Forward William Onyeodi: William is another that will need to have a bigtime year for the Eagles if they want to be successful. He’s put in a nice amount of work over the summer to improve as a perimeter player and will only get better if he continues to work.
2019 Wing Cam Billups: Cam was a player that came up big for FA as the season went along last year, he can shoot the ball from deep and is a very coachable player, will need to be more aggressive this season as the team will need him to score more.
2019 Guard E.J Bethea: EJ is a new transfer in but will be a high impact player right away, he can shoot the ball very well and has decent height and length for a guard already. Over the summer he had a few games where he put up bigtime scoring numbers, will be a huge part of the Eagles offensive attack.
2021 Point Guard Anthony Geddy: Anthony is another new pickup for the FA Eagles, he can shoot the ball well from deep and is a very quick guard. The Eagles will need to bigtime play and a lot of minutes from him if they want to be competitive.
