Doctors of Dunk : Best Dunkers in the DC / DMV : Part 4
Each season players from all of Maryland/DC & Northern, VA (NOVA) produce elite athletes & dunkers. We look for high elevation, explosion & power since live games are not dunk contests. Additionally, we evaluate where & how the players get to the rim. Examples can be transition, from the wing or key off the dribble & on alley oops. We chose Julius Erving as our cover photo because many NBA & the former ABA experts point to The Doctor as the player who started the dunk phenomenon. While there were many great dunkers before Doctor J such as Gus Johnson (Baltimore Bullets) & Jumping Joe Caldwell (ABA & Atlanta Hawks), I believe Julius Erving is “The Doctor of Dunk.” We want to add that Louisville Cardinals of the 1980s under legendary Head Coach Deny Crum were nicknamed the “Doctors of Dunk” with such great dunkers as Rodney & Scooter McCray, Derek Smith (R.I.P.) & Darrell Griffith was aka Doctor Dunkenstein in video below:
This is part 4 of our 6 part series. Part 1 thru 3re in the links below:

Nendah Tarke, 6’4″, WG, Bullis Bulldogs HS, Potomac, MD. (IAC Conference)
Grassroots Team: MOCO Heat/Team Vito. We firmly believe Nendah is poised for a breakout season this year for the highly rated Bullis Bulldogs who play in the very deep & talented the IAC Conference. This summer Nendah proved he can score at all 3 levels, play very tough lock down defense & is a winner. He plays with a very high IQ & possesses a tremendous offensive arsenal. Nendah is highlight reel dunker & we love his tomahawk pictured left. His brother had great freshmen season at D1 NJIT & we project Nendah as D1 mid major & possibly higher college prospect. We will be covering Nendah, Bullis HS & the IAC in great detail this season. https://prephoops.com/2017/08/prospect-spotlight-2019-nendah-tarke/
Ricky Lindo, 6’8″, W, 2018. Woodrow Wilson Tigers HS. Washington, DC. (DCIAA)
This summer Ricky has grown to 6’8″ & his stock as a college recruit is climbing, Currently, he is receiving offers from mostly D1 Mid Majors, but we believe Ricky could become a D1 High Major this season. He can score from all 3 levels. Ricky is an elite defender utilizing his great wingspan for blocks, steals, rebounds & dunks. We have seen Ricky block over 6 shots in game several times. His closeout & help side defense are fantastic. On the fast-break & from the wing Ricky is always a treat to covert a fantastic dunk. He can go off one & 2 legs & Ricky made our All DMV team last season in addition to Wilson teammates 2018 PG Ayinde Hikin, & 2017 SF Isaiah Jennings. This season Ayinde & Ricky should easily repeat, while 2019 CG Carlos Dunn, 6’3″ 2019 CG Jay Heath , 6’8″ 2018 PF/C Josiah Marable, & 6’5″ 2020 WG Dimingus Stevens could very well make one of our All DMV teams. Wilson has the potential to be a top 25 nationally ranked if the Tigers chemistry meshes.
