Dionte Ware Recruiting Update (2019)
PrepHoops.com revealed the elevation of Dionte Ware’s recruiting just a month ago. Like an escalator the young man keeps going up and up.
Friday Dionte Ware and Jacobi Wood visited Chattanooga. The two Cleveland High guards constitute one of the state’s best backcourt groups. Mullek Bradford (PH #57) also suits up for the Blue Raiders. The senior class took a hit with KK Curry’s transfer out of state, but that merely means more minutes for Deontae Davis, Romeo Wykle, Isaiah Johnson, and Alex Patterson.
Sophomore Wood expects to see an uptick in responsibility.
“Jacobi (Wood) will play a major role on our varsity squad this season,” said Cleveland High School Assistant Coach Reggie Tucker. “He played some significant minutes as a freshmen (and) will probably start for us this year.”
Jacobi Wood will find his way into the updated 2020 rankings. PrepHoopsTN unveiled a few Watch List players in July. As the high school season gets underway the list will certainly expand.
Wood belongs.
“(Wood) plays for one of the elite AAU programs in the country,” said Assistant Coach Reggie Tucker. “He was the starting point guard this past travelball season with 15U Stackhouse Elite and had a great summer with our high school team at team camps (June).”
It will take a nice sophomore year to get Wood’s name on more college scout radars. Cleveland doesn’t need him to have a great season, but if he plays like he did this summer they will absolutely push deep into the playoffs.
“Looking for him to take the next step. The kid just continues to improve.”
Ware Update
“Ohio University is the latest program to start recruiting 2019 G Dionte Ware,” shared Cleveland High School Assistant Coach Reggie Tucker.
Remember Chattanooga, Robert Morris, SeMo are circling Ware. Both Lipscomb and Portland State visited in September. Butler and East Tennessee State University
Arkansas State offered last month after evaluating. James Madison and Canisius already extended offers.
