Dennis Stallings, Jr. (AKA) Mr. Humble
Dennis Stallings, Jr, 6’3 PG, in the class of 2018, from Whites Creek High School, Nashville, TN. The name might sound familiar to you, because he’s the son of Dennis Stallings, Sr., a member of the Music City miracles, Tennessee Titans team that went to the Super Bowl in 2000. Instead of falling his dad’s footsteps, the young Stallings developed a love for the game of basketball. After transferring from Wilson Central High School, in Lebanon, Tn., Stallings, Jr. found himself at a new school and a new world at Whites Creek High School, Nashville, TN.
In the words of rapper Kendrick Lamar on his new song, “Be Humble”, Stallings, Jr. is just that. He’s very quiet and laidback, with a work ethic that’s out of this world. As Stallings, Jr. got more familiar with his surroundings and new teammates, his talents started to blossom 2017. As a new member to Coach Carlton Battles three-headed monster in 2017, Ruot Monyyong, Jaquan Brooks, and Stallings, Jr., Whites Creek pushed their 2017 team to the quarterfinals of the Tennessee High School boy’s basketball championship game.
Now, it’s 2018 and the focus is on Stallings, Jr. to lead his team back to the promise land, but this time come away with a championship. The question on everyone’s mind is, can he do it? While interviewing Stallings, Jr., he continually gave praises to his teammates and coaches that have given him this opportunity to shine. “I’m ready and look forward to a great season.” I’m coming off a great summer AAU circuit with Chattanooga Elite (Adidas) and had the opportunity to open several college coaches eyes. My recruiting is starting to pick up and have several mid-major programs are currently looking. I want to play on the Division 1 level and have put in the work to get there. I feel that I have the skills to play in one of the power 5 conferences, says Stallings, Jr., and my work ethic and skills that I have developed over the past few years will be on showcase for all to see during the 2017-18 season.
Coach Thompson ranks Stallings, Jr as one of the top PG’s in the State of Tennessee. Although listed as one of my under the radar guys, he has size, the body, strength, and a southpaw. He’s hard to guard, can play multiple positions, can shoot the 3 at a high percentage, and is a nightmare on defense. If you don’t know him, get to know him, because he will become a household name by spring of 2018. College coaches, if Dennis Stallings, Jr. isn’t on your radar now, you better send the scouts to see him.
Good luck to Stallings, Jr. and Whites Creek High School during the 2017-18 season. We will be following closely.
