Best of Best: Leaders
In our series “Best of the Best” we look at a specific aspect of a prospects game and evaluate who are the best at that specific thing across the state. Today we look at the best Leaders in Illinois.
PG Ayo Dosunmu (Morgan Park)
Dosunmu is not only the best prospect in Illinois, but is one of the premier leaders in the state as well. He leads by example and guys want to follow him into battle.
SF Talen Horton-Tucker (Simeon)
THT has definitely evolved into a leader over the last few years. He is a guy that others gravitate toward and you can see why with his playmaking ability.
PG Maurice Commander (Curie)
Commander was the leader at Marist last year and will do the same for Curie this year. He is a high IQ lead guard that pushes others on his team to reach their best.
PG Xavier Pinson (Simeon)
Pinson will step into a Simeon team with a lot of veteran leaders, but you have to like what he brings to the table in this category with how he led the Mac Irvin Fire NY2LA team all spring and summer elevating the play of those around him.
PG Bailey Dee (Champaign Central)
Dee is the type of guy you want in the fox hole with you! He is a tough and competitive kid that brings everything he has and makes those around him better for it.
PG Tyler Cochran (Bolingbrook)
Cochran showed on Hoopers Basketball Club at both the 16U and 17U levels he was a guy that could lead a team with his vocal nature and on the court demeanor.
SF Landon Wolfe (Effingham)
Wolfe was the heartbeat of the Illinois Bears 16U squad that consistently made it deep in tournaments and beat teams that might have had more talent on paper.
PG Jack McDonald (Geneva)
McDonald is a great set up man that playing up a year for Mercury Elite this summer showed he is a leader even with older guys around him.
PG Zach Toussaint (Johnsburg)
Toussaint is a floor general that makes guys around him better not only with his passing, but his leadership and drive to not let his team lose.
PG Andre White (Harlem)
White is a player that lacks ideal height, but makes up for it with heart! Plays hard and others follow this kid.
PG Nolan Niego (Lyons)
Niego has a lot of similar qualities to his older brother Harrison in the intensity that they bring to the game and passion for winning they have.
PG DJ Steward (Fenwick)
Steward showed on the big stage last year for Fenwick in the state playoffs he was a leader as a freshman and that is only going to continue to grow over the next three years for this 2020 prospect.
