5A: Post Watch List
The post list is a little scarce in comparison to the wings. However, there are a number of skilled post players in 5A who should have the attention of next level programs. The following post players are going to make a huge impact at the 5A level this next season.
5A: Post Watch List
Anthony Garza Anthony Garza 6'7" | PF Phhoenix Prep Post Grad | 2021 State AZ 6’8 C 2020 Shadow Ridge
Garza is an unfinished product but there is a lot of upside and he has improved greatly. Garza is long and has improved his touch around the rim. In addition, he has improved his mid-range jumper. Garza will be the focal point for Shadow Ridge in this upcoming season. As he continues to progress, as will the success of Shadow Ridge.
Bryce Davis 6’8 PF/C 2018 Deer Valley
Davis has improved his handle and mid-range shooting quite a bit. Further, he is developing more of a competitive edge. His footwork and soft touch around the rim have already earned him plenty of accolades. However, with his improved skill set and mentality, Davis looks poised for a monstrous season.
Chris Orozco 6’6 PF/C 2018 Sunnyslope
Although Orozco is undersized, he is strong and does a great job of using back side seals. He has a high IQ and knows how to create opportunities for himself even when the basketball is not in his immediate vicinity. As he continues to improve his range, he will add more versatility and intrigue at the next level.
Dhol Majak 6’10 PF/C 2018 Ironwood
Dhol Majak Ironwood High SchoolMajak has improved his footwork on the block and on the perimeter. Although he is not a traditional post player, he does have a couple of nice moves to his game. Further, he is a knock down shooter from the perimeter. His ability to shoot it from deep, length, and stamina makes him an interesting prospect at the next level.
Kendyl Watson 6’6 PF 2020 Paradise Valley
Watson has a lot of upside and potential. He has good athleticism and a strong build. Moreover, he is capable of attacking the rim off of the dribble. As Watson continues to develop, he could be a very special player. Although he did not play very meaningful minutes at the varsity level last season, he should be in a position to do so this season.
Aiden Weber 6’3 PF 2018 Arcadia
Despite being an undersized big man, Weber his quite skilled on the block. He finishes well around the rim and has good footwork. Moreover, he has unanticipated athleticism. He has a good vertical that enables him to finish above the rim and over defenders. Weber will be one of the biggest keys to Arcadia’s success this upcoming season.
