4A: Top Shooters
Utah is well-known for its shooting abilities. 4A is no different as there are plenty of prospects in this classification that can shoot the basketball with anyone. Below is a group of top tier shooters for the 4A classification.
4A Top Shooters:
Mason Falslev Mason Falslev 6'1" | PG Sky View | 2020 State #228 Nation UT 6’1 SG 2019 Sky View
Falslev wasted no time in asserting his ability to shoot the basketball at a high level. Despite only being a Sophomore this past season, he let it fly with the best of them. With what he has already demonstrated, it will be interesting to see what happens now that he has a bigger role and a bigger green light.
Ross Reeves 6’0 PG/SG 2018 Orem
There are a number of players who played meaningful varsity minutes last year and finished with 7 or less three pointers. Reeves accomplished that in merely one game last season. Further, he had a number of other games with 5 or more three pointers. Reeves’ ability to let it fly from deep will play a crucial role in Orem’s success this season.
Brantzen Blackner 6’4 SG 2018 Canyon View
It would be unfair to classify Blackner as a shooter has that tends to carry the connotation that is all the player can do. Blackner is one of the best scorers in the state. His ability to shoot the basketball at such a high percentage from deep forces defenders to guard him in comfortable spots. Blackner is poised for yet another huge season.
Joey Lambeth 5’10 PG 2018 Canyon View
The mixture of Lambeth and Blackner is going to be deadly to a number of opponents. Lambeth can shoot the basketball at a high level and does a good job of finding teammates. Between these two, Canyon View might possess one of the top shooting back courts in all of 4A.
Jared Bagley 6’1 PG/SG 2018 Logan
Speaking of top tier backcourts, Bagley and McDade are certainly in the discussion for the top backcourt and the top shooting backcourt in 4A. Bagley, much like Blackner, is much more than a shooter. However, he is more than capable of knocking it down from deep.
Anthony McDade 5’9 PG 2019 Logan
McDade does a little bit of everything for Logan. He can create, he passes well, and can score. However, his ability to shoot the basketball at 40% from three with such a high volume of attempts is absolutely impressive. Although Logan brings back the majority of their team from last year, McDade’s role will be bigger and will be a huge part of Logan’s success.
Mark Huber Mark Huber 6'1" | PG Bear River | 2020 State UT 5’7 PG 2020 Bear River
Despite only being a Freshman last year, Huber demonstrated that he was more than capable of shooting the basketball from deep. Huber shot it with confidence and had multiple games in which he hit big time shots. Huber’s role is only going to continue to grow and his confidence should match it. Look for Huber to have a big year this upcoming season and continue to be one of the top shooters in 4A.
James Nelson 6’6 SG/SF 2018 Salem Hills
Nelson’s height enables him to get off shots that many players would struggle with. Although his shooting percentage was a little low at 30%, he is responsible for the majority of the team’s scoring thus takes a volume of shots. Nelson is a proven shooter and scorer. He is certainly in the competition for top shooters and top scorers in 4A.
