Virginia Committed Player Breakdown
Nine players from Virginia have already committed to play division one basketball, and many more are expected to follow in the upcoming months. Here is a breakdown of how each player could fit in at the next level.
BRANDON SLATER | VILLANOVA
At 6-foot-6, Brandon Slater is capable of defending a number of different positions, and will likely be asked to do so by Jay Wright at Villanova. The versatile lefty can stretch the floor, create for others, and displays incredible toughness. Slater is a flat out soldier, and will do whatever it takes to win games.
RASIR BOLTON | PENN STATE
Penn State is in desperate need of a consistent three point threat, and the addition of Rasir Bolton solves that immediately. The smooth senior is as good of a scorer as there is in the state, and is expected to get plenty of opportunities in the Big 10.
JAELIN LLEWELLYN | PRINCETON
It was a major coup for Princeton to land the services of Jaelin Llewellyn. The explosive Canadian was touted by several high majors, but will now be one of the most feared playmakers in the Ivy League. The Tigers are compiling an outstanding 2018 class, and Llewellyn is certainly their most significant get.
MAC MCCLUNG | RUTGERS
Mac McClung has a chance to be the face of the revival at Rutgers, and will certainly excite fans with his high flying ability. The exciting Gate City and Team Loaded product, who blew up nationally this summer, is tough as nails, and is poised to prove any doubters wrong.
MILES LATIMER | STONY BROOK
Miles Latimer is a marvelous get for Stony Brook. The 6’4 senior, who saw his recruitment expand significantly this summer, was a popular target among several low to mid major programs. Latimer will provide a consistently high motor, great floor spacing, a high IQ, and solid defense on the wing at the next level.
JORDAN MILLER | GEORGE MASON
Considered one of the best players on the state, Jordan Miller recently ended his recruitment with a verbal pledge to George Mason, and this could be a major stepping stone for the Patriots in their effort to land local recruits. The senior, who has gone 56-2 while winning a state championship over his last two high school seasons, will likely be a major part of Dave Paulsen’s plans on both ends of the floor.
DARIUS MCGHEE | LIBERTY
Darius McGhee is a lights out shooter with limitless range, and sneaky athleticism. Liberty is getting a quick guard who will defend the ball, and win a lot of games. McGhee may or may not have been overlooked cause of his size, but one thing we do know is that he will produce.
DESHAUN WADE | EAST CAROLINA
ECU is getting a leader, and a smart, experienced floor general in DeShaun Wade. The creative senior, who can handle, and shoot at a high level, is a gym rat who loves to get others involved.
MATT BECHT | MOUNT ST. MARY’S
Jamion Christian landed arguably the best shooter in the DMV in Matt Becht. The 6’3 guard, who is underrated defensively, is very smart, and will be extremely difficult to take off the floor if he can get his body right.
