Top 250 Expo: Southwest Ohio Prospects (Part 3)
This week, we will highlight the top players from each region of Ohio, in an effort to show love to the prospects who had memorable performances at Saturday’s Top 250 Expo.
Jordan Howard (2020), 6’2” G, Dayton Springfield
Howard’s combination of elusiveness and athleticism caused problems for defenses on the break. Once he realized that he could get by his defender with the dribble, Howard gained confidence and became a relentless attacker. He can finish at the rim, but also has a nice running floater if the defense is in position.
Isaiah Kennedy (2020), 6’0” PG, Dayton Wayne
Kennedy’s extremely mature body continues to be a force that defenders cannot deal with. He burrowed into the lane, once again, on Saturday for tough finishes. Adding some nuance to his offensive attack will be crucial, just so defenses can’t sink on him.
Julian Mackey (2021), 5’9” G, Summit Country Day
Mackey still has a lot of growth to do physically. However, the ball-handling skills and shooting he showed are promising. Mackey is definitely aggressive in looking for his shot, which he’s capable of shooting from downtown with consistency.
Dalton Mischal (2020), 6’3” W, McClain
Mischal was one of the top prospects we saw all day. His mid-range scoring package includes a fall-away, step-back, and pull-up jumper. Once he starts hitting those jumpers regularly, Mischal is going to be unstoppable. At the moment, he’s already a beast on the offensive glass because of his strength and motor. Barring injury, Mischal is certainly going to be a 1,000-point scorer at the high school level who draws interest from D-I, D-II, and NAIA programs.
Jaheim Thomas (2020), 6’4” F, Princeton
Thomas excels in attacking the rim and finishing through traffic. What’s more, is that Thomas should be able to defend both forward spots for Princeton next season, because of his frame and quickness. The kid is very good athlete who can play an impactful defensive role for now.
