Top 250 Expo – Session #2
Standout Guards
Gus Etchison – 5’10” | Hamilton Heights | Class of 2021
Gus Etchison continued to impress with his ability to get to the basket and finish over longer defenders. Gus is creative with the ball in his hands and has a good feel for anticipating the defenses rotations. He gets into gaps with great regularity and pushes the action in transition. Etchison can draw the defense out with the long ball and is an excellent passer inside the lane. He will be a tough guard to matchup with throughout his high school career.
Austin Jordan – 5’9” | Fort Wayne South Side | Class of 2021
Austin Jordan is developing as a true point guard but really impressed with his energy and focus on defense. He was up in the opposing guards throughout the expo and really worked to make them change directions. Jordan put the ball on the floor and attacked hips well. He’s still working on making better decisions on the move but made some tough passes in the open floor for easy baskets. He will fit nicely into the South Side program in the coming years.
Nijel Pack – 6’0” | Lawrence Central | Class of 2020
Nijel Pack brings length and court vision to the point guard position. He consistently got to the into the back line of the defense and finished around the rim. Pack has an elite finishing package inside the lane with either hand for a sophomore guard. He opened up driving lanes in a few games with some early threes and was in control throughout the day. Definitely a prospect to keep a close eye on in the Indianapolis area.
Edreece Redmond – 6’0” | Bishop Chatard | Class of 2020
Edreece Redmond’s game is developing quickly. He uses his length at the position to bother opposing guards. Redmond thrives with the pull up jumper because it keeps his defender off balance. He is shifty with the ball in his hands and is a true point guard when it comes to getting others involved. Edreece is a natural leader, both by word and by action.
Mitchell Wilson – 5’11” | Columbia City | Class of 2020
Mitchel Wilson is a strong, smart guard that takes pride in shutting his man down on defense. He shot the ball well from deep at the expo and put together a complete event from start to finish. Mitchel is willing to do the little things that it takes to put his team in the best position to win games. He is an unselfish player who looks to get his teammates involved in any way possible.
Cole Richmond – 6’0” | Dekalb | Class of 2021
Cole Richmond was one of the more consistent shooters from deep at the expo. Richmond has proven his ability to slide into the corner on drives and knock down the corner three at a high rate in past events. He floated around the perimeter for the majority of the showcase but used the floater efficiently in the lane for some tough finishes. His footwork is improving and it’s helping him become a better on-ball defender.
Alex Szilagyi – 6’0” | Fishers | Class of 2020
Alex Szilagyi can fill it up from deep in a hurry. He gets his shot off quick and can knock it down even when contested. He’s started to put the ball on the floor more frequently and will have greater success as he continues to add strength to his frame. Alex is a high IQ guard that works well off pick and roll action with his hesitation dribble. He changes speeds well and is starting to make better decisions in the lane.
Hayden Jones – 5’11” | East Noble | Class of 2020
Hayden Jones is a tough nosed, consistent defender. His best attributes on defense are his quick feet and ability to read into the offensive players tendencies. He picks up on habits quickly and uses it to his advantage to disrupt the flow of the offense. Jones got to the basket with great success and proved that he can finish around the rim when the bigs are present. He will have a great career at East Noble and beyond if he continues to develop like he has.
Braden Yoder – 5’11” | Northridge | Class of 2020
Braden Yoder has an edge about his game. He brought it possession after possession on the defensive end. Yoder is a physical guard and made the opposition uncomfortable by beating his man to the spot and using his body to cause turnovers rather than reaching in. He pushed the ball in transition and was one of the few that consistently advanced the ball on the break with the pass and not the dribble.
Quinn Harmon – 6’0” | Homestead | Class of 2021
Quinn Harmon is a lean guard with good length and looks like he has room to grow. Quinn has good court vision and is extremely active on both ends of the floor. He is good as a lead guard with the ball in his hands and makes the right pass when it needs to be made. His IQ stands out with his off the ball movement and leadership on the court. He will be a guard to keep an eye on in the Fort Wayne area.
