Top 250 Expo: Central Ohio Prospects (Part 1)
This week, we will highlight the top players from each region of Ohio, in an effort to show love to the prospects who had memorable performances at Saturday’s Top 250 Expo.
Curtis Clinger (2018), 6’4” G, Thomas Worthington
More than anything, Clinger is a three-point shooting threat. Therefore, he looks for opportunities to spot up on most possessions. But, instead of waiting on the perimeter every play, Clinger has a tendency to sneak into the paint for a cut or offensive rebound attempt. Gritty kid who D-III programs should take a look at this season.
Jack Lonzo (2018), 5’11” PG, Granville
Lonzo didn’t necessarily do anything spectacular, but we liked his energy and IQ. Another way to say “nothing spectacular” could be, “didn’t force anything.” Lonzo simply made quality passes to set up layups for teammates, ran the floor, stayed active away from the ball, and converted open jumpers.
Michael Reeves (2018), 6’7” F/C, Gahanna Lincoln
Reeves capitalized on a height advantage by cleaning up the offensive glass on Saturday — often keeping possessions alive for just a moment, before putting a second chance put-back up and in. Additionally, in the skill development section, Reeves’ jumper was falling from the elbow.
Jaidon Lipscomb (2019), 6’0” G, Pickerington Central
Lipscomb shot the lights out at last year’s Expo. This go-round, Lipscomb made a concerted effort of keeping everyone involved by passing the ball to cutters and open shooters. Also, it seems that Lipscomb has been working on his scoring package inside the arch. He’s no longer settling for three-point jumpers, courtesy of a reliable mid-range pull-up.
Nick Camacho (2020), 6’1” G, Olentangy
First of all, regardless of skills, Camacho stuck out amongst the crowd by getting after it defensively. Whether it was during 1-on-1 or regular game action, Camacho took matchups personally and got into ball-handlers. Solid defensive instincts coming from Camacho. Offensively, we liked his ability to create shots within 12-feet of the basket, often coming on step-thrus off a pump-fake.
Kaleb Leach (2020), 6’2” G, Pickerington North
Leach is a pretty athletic guard who primarily looks to score the basketball. We liked his pull-up jumper, but he often settled for tough shots when he could’ve passed or created more separation. Regardless, he made a couple tough ones and got to the rim also.
