Preseason Projections: Top Players in the 15th Region
High School’s across Kentucky have opened their doors for the start of a new school year, leading Prep Hoops Kentucky to open its doors to “way-to-early” preseason outlooks. Over the next few days we will give you our “Super Six Projections”, breaking down our picks for the top six players in Kentucky’s 16 regions. Here we breakdown the 15th Region.
Top Players in the 15th Region:
Wyatt Battaile, Pikeville / 6’5 Shooting Guard / 2018
- Before an injurty this summer, Battaille was recieving D-I interest from a number of different programs. Once he’s back 100%, he’ll continue to put teams on notice. He helped lead Pikeville to a 23-9 overall record last season, averaging 20.2 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.
Jacob Rice, Johnson Central / Point Guard / 2019
- Johnson Central is now Jacob Rice’s team. After the graduation of Mason Blair and Cole Grace, Rice is the teams returning leading scorer (10 points per game) and will be given more responsibility to lead the team the next two years.
Brady Conn, South Floyd / Forward / 2019
- Conn averaged 15 points and 13 rebounds for South Floyd last season playing as a sophomore. If he can continue to get those type of numbers, look for South Floyd to be a regional contender.
Jacob Collins, South Floyd / Guard / 2018
- Like Conn, Collins also averaged 15 points for South Floyd last season. If Collins can improve his 3-point shooting, watch out.
Roger Tackett, South Floyd / Guard / 2018
- Tackett helped lead South Floyd to a 21-13 overall record last season, as well as a district championship. He averaged 19 points and 5 rebounds per game while shooting 47% from the field.
Trey James, Sheldon Clark / 6’11 Forward, Center / 2021
- (From PHKY contributor Steve Quattrocchi) Legitimately 6’11” and looking like a high major D1 recruit, James is going to be a fixture in Kentucky for the next several seasons. Trey has made a name for himself nationally by performing well at the Crossroads Elite Camp and the CP3 Rising Stars Camp.
