Preseason Projections: Top Players in the 14th Region
High School’s across Kentucky have opened their doors for the start of a new school year, leading Prep Hoops Kentucky to open its doors to “way-to-early” preseason outlooks. Over the next few days we will give you our “Super Six Projections”, breaking down our picks for the top six players in Kentucky’s 16 regions. Here we breakdown the 14th Region.
Top Players in the 14th Region:
Oumar Kieta, Cordia / 6’10, Center /2018
- At 6’10, Kieta is can be a force. His upside is through the roof and showed flashes of it playing for the Louisville Magic this summer. He averaged just short of a double-double as a junior last season at Cordia.
Caleb Bonny, Estill County / 6’2, Guard / 2018
- Bonny can flat out score the ball and could be a really solid player at the small college level. He can shoot it from deep and finish around the basket. Estill finished ranked 2nd in the regular season standings, with an overall record of 25-8. They won the 56th District. Bonny averaged 23 points and and 4 rebounds per game.
Noah Back, Perry County Central / 6’3, Guard / 2019
- Back averaged just under 14 points per game last season for Perry County Central, who advanced out of the 14th Region and made the state tournament. With the graduation of Damon Tobler, look for Back to have a much larger role for the Commodores.
Isaac Caudill, Knott County Central / Guard / 2018
- Caudill averaged 15.8 points per game and 4.7 rebounds last season at Knott County Central. He also shot 52% from the field.
Deven Stone, Wolfe County / Guard / 2018
- Stone led Wolfe County to an 18 win season last year, averaging 22.4 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. Look for Stone to have similar success during his senior campaign.
Austin Bennett, Buckhorn / 6’2, Guard / 2019
- Bennett claims an offer from Georgetown College and had a solid summer in both AAU and team ball. He averaged just under 18 points and 6 rebounds as a sophomore last season.
