Stock Risers: Camren Hayes & Silas Mason (2020) PC: N&O (Rodriguez)
Greensboro Smith High School will have one of the deepest rosters in the state this season. A couple of 2020 recruits headline the mid-major/high major level. Forward Silas Mason and Point Guard Camren Hayes.
Silas Mason is a long 6’6 lefty with high major athletic ability and talent to go along with a nice stroke. A long and strong athlete, Mason runs the floor and can finish at the rim. He can get to the basket at will and is strong enough to play through contact. He is a physical player that does not back down from any opponent. He’s arguably one of the top 15 players in his class with already holding offers from Florida, Oklahoma State, DePaul, Houston, East Carolina, UNC Charlotte, UNCG, and Hampton. He is recently being recruited by Texas, UNC, NC State, Georgetown and Wake Forest. Mason is definitely one to keep an eye on as he’s yet to tap into his full potential.
Hayes is in my opinion is the prefect size at the point guard spot. 6-foot-2 and long. He shows the ability to knock down shots to the three-point line and in. He is a skilled passer who gets teammates involved and finds the right pass. He is good at creating off the dribble and making the defense come to him before making the right dish-off. He can finish at the rim and gets himself in good position to grab rebounds and push the ball. He has already picked up four offers, Western Carolina, IUPUI, Hampton and North Florida. I would not be surprised to see his recruitment hit a mid-major/high major level after or during this season. He has the size, skill and will to be a top player in the region. Similar guards with his skillset do not have the size that he has.
