St. Andrew’s Episcopal Open Gym Notebook
POTOMAC, MD — Our fall open gym tour began at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School yesterday afternoon, where we were joined by Mount St. Mary’s, Siena, Cincinnati, Louisiana Tech, and Washington College, who were all present for the workout. Below are some takeaways from our time in the gym.
KAMARI WILLIAMS TRENDING UP
Kamari Williams has really seen his recruitment ramp up in recent weeks. The 6’7 junior, who was offered by Siena after yesterday’s workout, is receiving interest from several mid to high major programs. Saint Joe’s Head Coach Phil Martelli is expected in to see Williams on Monday.
CHACE DAVIS ASSERTS HIMSELF
Chace Davis was probably the most impressive player on the floor on Tuesday, and all the college coaches took notice. The athletic freshman, who received his first offer from Mount St. Mary’s Head Coach Jamion Christian, knocked down perimeter jumpers with notable consistency.
JUSTIN NWOSU SHOWCASES VERSATILITY
6’5 senior Justin Nwosu has really worked hard to improve his abilities off the bounce, and the results have been evident. The broad shouldered forward is a matchup nightmare given his ability to make shots from the perimeter along with his craftiness off the dribble.
JASON LEWIS CATCHES FIRE
Jason Lewis shot the lights out from three point range, and he did a nice job getting to his spots in transition. The junior, who played on the AAU circuit with Mid Atlantic Select, is much improved, and should factor into a key role throughout the season.
HERU BLIGEN LEADS A DEEP BACK COURT
Colin Smalls was a standout on the AAU circuit this summer for Team DurantThere’s no doubt that Heru Bligen is the leader of this young and talented back court. The junior guard is a leader, and the toughest player on the floor. Sophomore guard Colin Smalls, a transfer from Wise, will only get better from his daily head to head battles with Bligen. ’20 Spencer Hayes brings an added dimension to the back court with his craftiness, defensive potential, and length at 6’3.
VICTOR MURESAN SHOWS SIGNS
Victor Muresan, a big man who will be asked to block shots, defend, and rebound this year, is an intriguing post prospect for this team. The 6-foot-9 junior, who has been working out all summer with the Romanian National Team, still has some work to do offensively, but can be very disruptive as a rim protector.
