Recruiting Report: Ziggy Reid (2019)
Ziggy Reid gained valuable experience last season as a key contributor to a conference championship team. The 6-foot-5 junior, who was a standout on the grassroots circuit this summer with Mid Atlantic Select, is blossoming into a solid all-around prospect.
“I’d say I’m a wing forward,” said Reid of his playing style. “I can dribble, shoot, or I can post up if I want.”
Reid has worked hard on his fitness this summer with his high school coach, Jeremy Mellady. He’s lost over 20 pounds as a result of his hard work, and is becoming much more explosive.
“My athleticism, and my shooting ability are the most improved parts of my game,” Reid stated. “I need to work on my defense and my foot speed. I’m working on it with Coach Mell(ady) right now, but my foot speed.”
Right now, Reid is starting off the year with a 3.0 GPA at St. Paul’s, one of the best academic schools in the state. Radford, Longwood, Navy, and St. Bonaventure have reportedly expressed interest. Reid is also receiving division two interest form St. Thomas Aquinas and Concordia.
“The fact that I can shoot is a bit underrated,” Reid began to explain. “Being 6’5 I can shoot the ball, and if I want I can take you to the paint.”
The main factors for Reid in his college decision are the academic part, and getting to play right away. What can he bring to a college program?
“I can bring a strong work ethic. Playing hard, and shooting the ball.”
