Recruiting Report: Tim Dalger (2019)
It has been about maturing and bettering his game behind the scenes for Tim Dalger.
The 2019 Ft. Lauderdale Calvary Christian forward averaged 2.2 points per game in a reserve role last season for the Class 5A state champions. The Eagles defeated Tampa Catholic 65-48 in the state title game in March.
“This past season was a big growth and development period for me. I learned a lot about how to elevate my game,” Dalger told Prep Hoops Florida. “Being around high-major Division I talent like Jerald Butler and Victor Uyaelunmo. I learned the ups and downs that come with it and how to adjust to it. I also learned how to be a champion.”
At 6’6″, 185 lbs., there’s an opportunity to be had on a Calvary Christian group that graduated Butler, Victor Uyalunmo, Rasheem Etienne and Angel Lebron.
Big men Soloman Uyaelunmo and Elochukwu Eze return alongside a group of seven seniors. Dalger is going to emerge while fellow 2019 guard Dexter Hamilton is in the mix.
“This fall my goals are currently to be set on becoming a true team leader for my team. We have some key guys returning for us and some solid additions,” Dalger said. “I think with the leadership coach Cilk [McSweeney] provides it can allow me to have a legitimate chance to have a better season than last year. I want to impact the game on a much larger scale.”
Starting his basketball career at age 12, Dalger pointed to his ability to pass, score, defend and have a non-stop motor as his biggest strengths. He’s aiming to improve becoming a true guard at the next level while shooting the ball from outside at a high clip.
Dalger has one offer on the table from Stetson. He’s also drawn interest from the likes of Navy, Wyoming, UMass, Mercer, Georgia Southern, Ohio State, West Virginia, Tennessee Tech and Dayton.
Calvary Christian is under new leadership in the backcourt and Dalger is a guy who will make a huge impact this season for them. He’s currently showing off his athleticism while playing as a wide receiver for the Eagles football team. Dalger’s basketball skills are what is going to get him a chance to play sports in college.
