Recruiting Report: Kamden Gipson (2018)
Story by Zach Cobler
Edmond Santa Fe Point Guard, Kamden Gipson, is one of the fastest rising prospects in the 2018 class for Oklahoma.
Gipson is ranked in the top 40 for the Oklahoma 2018 class and has moved up after a strong summer playing for Oklahoma Power Elite 17U on the Adidas Gauntlet.
After the strong summer, Gipson picked up his first offer this week from McPherson College in Kansas.
While Gipson may only hold one offer, he had a good season and has put himself on the radar of many schools. He is projected at the NCAA Division II level.
Gipson has a high basketball IQ which compliments his leadership skills. He is a good shooter with good handles.
Although he has many upsides, Gipson is still working on his game. Gipson realizes he is undersized at 5’10 but that does not stop him.
“I want to work on my size and my strength,” said Gipson. “I also want to become a better leader as well.”
As many high schoolers do, Gipson wants to go to college to play basketball. Academics are not lost on Gipson though, as he hopes to major in pre-med. Gipson has a 3.4 GPA.
Edmond Santa Fe won regionals last year helped by Gipson. He looks to help the Wolves again this high school season.
“We will be a great team this year,” said Gipson. “I think we are one of the best teams in the state.”
Gipson is driven by his love for the game. He looks to Russell Westbrook for his inspiration.
“Russell Westbrook is my favorite player,” said Gipson. “He brings so much energy to the game, and he brings it to every game.”
Outside of basketball Gipson likes to fish in his free time. He looks to fishing to relax and have fun outside the game.
Gipson is a talented point guard with a strong upside. With his leadership abilities, he will look to overcome his size and help the Wolves to a successful season. Gipson looks a solid NCAA Division II quality player. He will look to this high school season to improve his individual game and gain more interest from different colleges.
