Justin Hohn has become very used to winning. The Tea Area junior point guard has a state title medal in his home and followed that with a great 16u year.
Hohn helped the South Dakota Storm to a 24-9 record including several late tournament runs around the Midwest.
“I’d probably have to say playing in St. Cloud and the Hardwood Classic were my highlights of the year because I got to showcase all of the things I’ve been working on and proved I could play at a high level,” Justin said.
Justin has been the lead PG on both the Tea Area title squad and the Storm. He can handle and make the right decisions, and now Hohn wants to improve his shooting touch.
“My focus of improvement before winter practice is going to be my shot consistency.” Hohn explained. “I liked the way I ended the summer but I want to be a reliable knock down shooter. Overall I’d have to say getting even stronger would best help me improve overall.”
Tea Area went 21-4 on their way to a state title and the squad brings back 90 percent of their title rotation.
“We are expecting nothing less than another state championship next winter and are fully capable of doing so. We are returning four starters and five off the bench so it should be exciting to see what we can do.”
Schools are doing the smart thing and getting in contact with Hohn early.
“I have talked to coaches and gotten a few letters and camp invites from a few colleges,” Hohn said. “I’ve talked a little with Mount Marty, Dakota Wesleyan, and Augustana so far.”
Justin has been influenced by some of the top players in the NBA over the last several years.
“I would say John Wall and Kyrie Irving have influenced my game the most,” Hohn said. “I like how smooth and creative Kyrie Irving is with his handles and finishing, and I like how explosive and exciting John Wall is to watch on both sides of the ball.
“I would have to say my favorite hoopers of all time are Penny Hardaway, MJ, and Magic.”
