Recruiting Report: Isaiah Rollins (2018)
Isaiah Rollins, a 6’3 G from Northside HS, is still waiting on his first offer, but has been gaining interest from a very successful summer. He spent the summer playing with 6th Man, who played on the Adidas Silver circuit. “With 6th man, we had a team full of scorers, but for Northside, there aren’t many scorers. So with 6th man, I had to lead more than focus on scoring. With Northside, I’m thought of as a leader, a second coach, and a scorer.”
Northside is going to have a talented core this year, being lead by Isaiah, Seneca Knight, a 6’6 G that can stroke from the outside, and Billy Sonnier, a 6’8 center that is just as good on the gridiron as he is on the court. “We are looking great. Everybody is working hard and striving for a ring. Everybody already knows their roles, and is ready to put their heart into it. So I believe we will do great.”
Isaiah is an off guard, but he looks just as good with the ball in his hands as he does playing off ball. He has a nice frame, and can finish through contact when attacking the goal. He has steadily improved his jump shooting, and I can attest that his shot has come a long way. “This offseason, I worked on lateral movements for defense, my footwork, ball handling, stamina, and shooting more consistently. I feel like adding both a more consistent three ball and a mid-range pull up are great assets to my game.”
While he hasn’t picked up any offers yet, he has been hearing from a number of schools. UNO, Incarnate Word, Southern, Xavier, and Alabama have all been communicating as of late, Rollins reports. While what he has done on the basketball court has been impressive, what he has done in the classroom might open up even more door. Rollins has had a 4.0 GPA throughout high school, and has made a composite 25 ACT score.
