Recruiting Report: Charlie Jacob (2018)
Charlie Jacob‘s jersey number for Totino-Grace is 42. After hearing what his GPA is, I think I understand why he picked that number.
“I have a 4.2 GPA,” Jacob told NHR. “I am not sure what I am going to major in yet, I am just going to keep my options open. Right now, I just really want a high academic school where I can also have success on the court.”
Jacob has visits scheduled this fall for U of Chicago, Washington U (St. Louis) and Emory University. He has also been talking to local colleges St. John’s and St. Thomas “pretty regularly,” according to him.
Those visits will happen in October. Until then, Jacob has been preparing his body for the rigors of one last high school season. With the graduation of guys like Rocky Krueser (NDSU) and Nathan Kavolak (St. John’s), Jacob will have even more on his shoulders.
“I’m in the gym almost every day, and I’m in the weight room as well,” he said. “I’m making sure this senior season will be a success on all levels, and hopefully I can go out with a bang. We lose some pieces from last year, so this year things will be different… but I’m looking forward to it!”
Totino-Grace has a new coach this year in Nick Carroll, and he has already noticed some of Jacob’s best traits on the court.
“He is an offensively-minded combo guard who shoots the ball really well,” he said. “Very effective in ball screens and rebounds his position at a high level.”
Coach Ben Wilde (Minnesota Fury) also added praise for Jacob’s jumpshot as well as his “great attitude and work ethic” from an intangible standpoint.
