Recruiting Report: BJ Miller (2018)
Lima Senior is an ideal spot to be a point guard. There’s a culture in place — one where Ohio’s 2016 Mr. Basketball and current Michigan Wolverine, Xavier Simpson, is helping out the current floor general, 5’11” BJ Miller (2018).
“Xavier Simpson, that’s actually one of my best friends and a big brother to me. He was home a lot during the summer. So, he was able to be with me and help me work out … He was able to teach me from what he’s learned at the collegiate level and give me advice on what he went through,” Miller said.
Even though the school year is in full-swing, Miller still finds time to work-out and train three times a day.
“The motivation is just so I don’t have any let-downs for the season. I want to have a good season. So, in order to have a good season, I have to work hard.”
Lima Senior’s overall team also wants Miller to have a successful season.
“Junior year to senior year, my role will change a lot. I’ll be asked to lead a lot more this year, with the group we have. I’ll be expected to score a little more,” Miller said.
This summer, when he played with Northwest Ohio Basketball Club, we became impressed with his court-awareness. He’s a pass-first point guard who has the ability to score at all three levels if the defense gives him a look.

As far as recruitment goes, Miller mentioned Saginaw Valley as a school that he knows is interested.
Although there are no offers on the table currently, Miller knows what he’s looking for in a school.
“Academics and, when I step on campus, I want to feel like I’m at home. But I also want to have a good relationship with the coach, that’s important,” Miller said.
In the meantime, as we mentioned, Miller is working extremely hard to ensure a breakout senior season. Additionally, Miller works hard in the classroom, as he carries a 3.3 GPA and 17 ACT score. He will re-take the ACT at some point.
