For AJ Howard, his Junior season of basketball was a learning experience being that he had to sit out the entire season due to an injury. “It gave me an opportunity to work on my basketball IQ… I am a lot stronger mentally and physically now. I am looking forward to playing with my club team in California.”
Howard spends his AAU seasons playing for PowerHouse Hoops, where he expects to be a strong contributor both offensively and defensively. “We have a talented team so as long as everyone plays to their potential, we should have a successful season,” Howard then added “my teammates and coaches are great, [PowerHouse] is a good fit because I can continue to grow as a player and add to my game.”
As an individual, Howard sees himself as a threat in all areas on the floor as well as being a great team player. He likes to compare his game to that of Dwayne Wade, he sees them both being high-level two-way players. On offense, he is a sharp shooter from the three-point line, has a smooth mid-range game, and is a good player in transition that can find his teammates well. On defense, he likes to challenge himself to lock up whoever he is guarding at the time and said that he prides himself on keeping them scoreless.
As he is heading into his senior season of ball, Howard has yet to receive offers from any schools, but has had colleges come out to see some of his team’s training sessions. From these colleges, he has heard nothing but positive feedback and even says that he sees the possibilities of some of these schools putting a little more interest into him.
