Prospect Spotlight: Chris Warner (2019)
Chris Warner hit 31 threes as a sophomore for Head Coach Tony Bentley at Wakefield. The 6’5 wing, who has always been considered a reliable three point threat, provides excellent floor spacing. Warner has worked hard in recent months to expand his game, and is embracing a bigger role as a team captain..
“I think freshman year when I first got to high school I was primarily a shooter. That was just my role on the team,” said Warner. “Now I’m a slasher, knock down three shooter if I’m open, but even if a man is on me.”
Now a junior, Warner understands the importance of getting others involved. He believes that his passing ability is one of the most underrated aspects of his game, and is ready to show that he can consistently set up teammates for easy looks.
“I’ve worked hard on my athleticism. Getting my bounce up,” Warner stated. “I think the most improved part of my game is finishing at the basket. Finishing with contact. I need to work on my ball handling a little more.”
Warner says he has a 3.9 GPA right now, and taking three AP’s this year. He took took one last year, and plans to take 4 next year. The goal is to get his GPA above a 4.0.
“I have interest from Holy Cross and Navy, those are the biggest schools for now,” said Warner of his recruitment. “The main goal is to go D1, but also try to go to a school for academics. Try to balance basketball and school.”
What can a college program expect from Warner at the next level?
“I can bring leadership. I’ve had to step up and be a captain on the team. Also my ability to knock down the three ball and get to the basket.”
