Prospect Spotlight: Brent Davis (2020)
Brent Davis earned valuable playing time as a freshman this past season.
The 2020 Miramar guard averaged 2.3 points in 12 appearances for a Patriots group that finished 16-12 which included an appearance in the Class 9A region quarterfinals.
Davis only scored in six games, with a season-high of eight points against Pembroke Pines. Despite that, he says he took away plenty from his debut varsity campaign.
“I learned from last season to never take any teams lightly and always play with a hunger,” Davis told Prep Hoops Florida. “The thing that grew most about my game was being more vocal and my aggression on every single play, both on offense and defense.”
The 6’0″, 165-pounder has grown in height and strength and says he plans to bring intensity on every single play for Miramar as an important piece of the offense.
Davis played for Team Breakdown this summer. He says he learned a lot playing with them and that he realized that you can never take the game of basketball for granted.
He started playing basketball at age 7. In terms of his biggest strengths, Davis pointed to his defense and ability to knock down open 3’s. He’s aiming to improve his passing ability this season.
No offers have come yet for the sophomore, but he’s drawn interest from Tulane. Davis is an intriguing prospect. He fared well for Team Breakdown this summer and with six Patriots off to college including leading scorer Trent Rolle, there will be a chance for Davis to carve out a key role.
