Prospect Spotlight: Avery Lewis (2018, Ann Arbor Huron)
Avery Lewis‘ talent has been known for years. He is a special type of player, who can contribute to his team in a variety of ways. The Ann Arbor Huron star is a 6-6 small forward in the class of 2018. Every year he successfully expands his game and becomes an even bigger weapon on the court. Lewis has prepared his game to transfer to the collegiate level.
Avery Lewis is able to guard any position on the court, from 1 through 5. He is able to find his teammates with a crisp pass in both the half court and full court. In the open floor, he utilizes his height and athletic ability. Lewis can put the ball on the floor and get to the rim, as well as elevating over the defense to score. He has the ability to play bigger than his height as well. Lewis can be a force on the glass, especially offensively, if asked to do so. He is the type of player who will never be outworked.
Avery Lewis is currently working to improve his shooting ability and range. He wants to develop a consistent shot, both spot up and off the dribble. Adding a consistent midrange and deeper jumper would add a valuable weapon to an already diverse skill set. Avery Lewis has worked hard on his conditioning and has become a physical athlete who can log many minutes.
Lewis‘ best moment in high school basketball would be his exceptional game against Ann Arbor Pioneer in last years district championship. He looks forward to this seasons matchup against Ann Arbor Skyline because of the challenge of facing one of the best backcourts in Michigan. Avery Lewis hopes to play basketball at a competitive level for as long as possible. He also wants to get his CPA in Sport Management.
This is young man is a true leader both on and off the court. He holds himself accountable and is a player that spreads positive team chemistry. Off the court, Avery Lewis is loved and respected, not just at Ann Arbor Huron, but throughout the entire community. He is currently being recruited by Grand Valley State University, Northwood, Davenport, Wayne State, and Southwest Minnesota State. As the 2017-18 season approaches, more D2 offers should be in the mix.
