Preseason All-Conference: Western Valley
Player of the Year: 2018 Colby Seuntjens, Maple Valley-Anthon-Oto
The Rams leading scorer is the best player in this league, and frankly, it’s not that close. An athletic wing capable of scoring efficiently at all three levels, he’s not only the leading returning scorer in the conference, he’s also near the top of every other major category. An all-around stud who will lead MVAO back to the top of the league.
First Team
2018 Colby Seuntjens, Maple Valley-Anthon-Oto (18.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.6 steals, 56.5 FG%, 41.0 3P%)
Seuntjens is the leader of an MVAO team that will be looking to make another trip to the state tournament, which would be their third in the last four years. An efficient scoring wing, he’s capable of dominating the game in a number of ways and is the most difficult matchup in the conference.
2019 Nathan Keck, Kingsley-Pierson (14.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.6 steals)
The 6-0 junior guard is ready to take the next step forward in his game after leading Kingsley-Pierson in scoring last season. Look for him to have the ball in his hands more this season following the graduation of Coby Fischer, and in turn, look for the assist numbers to rise as well.
2018 Connor Beeck, Maple Valley-Anthon-Oto (10.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.7 steals, 43.0 3P%)
The other key returnee for MVAO, Beeck is the league’s top three-point shooter, knocking down 46 of them last season at a 43% clip. He’s the Rams leading returning rebounder, tied for the lead in assists, and contributes on the defensive end to the tune of nearly two steals a night.
2018 Drew Brekke, Westwood, Sloan (11.6 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.3 blocks)
The Westwood big man is probably the biggest double-double threat nightly in the league this year. Look for him to help lead the Rebels to some more ‘W’s this season after winning just five games a year ago.
2018 Tyler Walker, Woodbury Central (11.4 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists)
Walker made more 3s than anyone in the conference last season, knocking down 55 of his shots from behind the arc. If he’s able to improve on his efficiency (38.7 FG%), his scoring numbers could explode.
