Prep Hoops Missouri Top 250 Expo: Top 2020 Guards
Here is a look at some of the top Class of 2020 guards from last weekend’s Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo in St. Louis:
Jace Lance 6’0″ Marshall: A good young point guard who has the ability to distribute the basketball and get buckets from all over the floor. He plays with a lot of poise as a ball handler and passer and he knocked down a number of 3-pointers from distance. He also did a nice job of getting to the basket.
Adam Sommer 6’3″ Parkway South: A talented combo guard with good size and a strong body. Has the ability to use his strength to ward off pressure defense and still make plays. He is a very capable 3-point shooter, but he is very effective when shooting off the dribble. He can pass the ball as well.
Judah Nunn 5’7″ Fort Zumwalt South: A small point guard who displayed a great knack of getting to the basket and finishing in traffic among the bigger players. He has good quickness and a crafty set of moves with the dribble. Very savvy and poised player who can score.
Corey Cushshon 5’7″ Confluence Academy: A very nice pass-first point guard who knows how to handle the ball and facilitate the offense. Dropped a number of excellent passes to open teammates and played a very under control game. Strong body who can play at his own tempo and penetrate to the basket.
Devan Edwards 5’11″Kirkwood: An impressive young shooting guard who enjoyed a productive day. He has a smooth looking jumper off the catch. He also displayed the ability to score in traffic and pass the ball as well.
Brent Wagner 6’1″ Park Hills Central: A very solid guard with good size and athleticism, he can handle the ball and shoot the ball well from 3-point range. He did a nice job of moving without the basketball.
Luke Ervie 6’0″ Freeburg: A very good combo guard who plays with a lot of poise and savvy. He moves the ball well as a ball handler and passer and always seems to make the right play at the right time. He is also a good perimeter shooter as well.
Derrick McKay 5’7″ Confluence Academy: A small point guard who played with good pace on both ends of the court. He is a nice scoring threat who can penetrate and knock down 3-pointers.
Derick Foster 5’5″ Hazelwood East: One of the smallest players in the entire camp, but he made a big impact with his ability to knock down open 3-pointers throughout the day. He made them at an impressive rate in the games I watched him.
