Prep Hoops Kansas Top 250 Expo: Class of 2019 Guards under 6’0”
Here are some of the top smaller 2019 guards who competed at last weekend’s Prep Hoops Expo in Overland Park, Kansas.
5’9” Keyon Thomas from Bonner Springs has a nice lefty touch from 3. Keyon is a very smart player with and without the ball. He probably was the quickest guy at the Expo. He got to the rim with easy and has a great up and under. He is also a great passer especially when the defense collapses on him.
5’11” Mikel Henderson From Lee’s Summit North is a true point guard who has decent range. Mikel likes to make the right play whether that is finding the open man or taking his man to the bucket. Although he is small, he is a lockdown defender that likes to get under the opposing players’ skin.
5’10” Kobe Bonner from Seaman High is quick point guard who knows how to play the game. He’s a pass first guard, but he can and does get to the basket. He likes setting up his teammates with open shots by driving and dishing.
5’7” Alan (AJ) Watson from Bonner Springs has a high basketball IQ. AJ can hit the open 3 or he can get into the lane and score with his nice floater. He sees the floor very well and makes tough passes look easy.
5’10” Arthur Weston Jr. from Lincoln College Prep is a scorer plain and simple. He is a very quick guard who handles the ball pretty well. Arthur can either knock down the 3 or he can get to the bucket if needed. He has a great pull up game though, and he put that on display plenty of times at the Expo.
