Prep Hoops Kansas Top 250 Expo: 2019 Guards
Here is a look at the top Class of 2019 guards from last weekend’s Prep Hoops Kansas Top 250 Expo in Kansas City:
2019
Guards
Kobe Bonner, 5’10, G, 2019, Seaman (Kan.)
Scrappy defensive guy that had some really nice moments at the defensive end of the court, coming up with steals or blocked shots.
Levi Bruan, 6’3, PG/SG, 2019, Topeka Hayden (Kan.)
Moves well without the ball and can handle the point guard duties or play off the ball. Is a good ball handler and has terrific change of pace in his game.
Deonte Carroll, 6’2, G, 2019, Shawnee Mission East (Kan.)
Carroll brings good size to the court for a guard and played under control and within himself throughout much of Saturday’s game action.
Mikel Henderson, 5’11, PG/SG, 2019, Lee’s Summit North (Mo.)
One of several good guards for the Broncos Henderson is coming into his own as a player. He has terrific speed and quickness with the ball and is tough to keep out of the lane. He had several big games on Saturday and showed the ability to make plays.
Drew Hubbel, 6’2, G, 2019, Blue Valley North (Kan.)
Underrated guard with good all-around skills who has some size and the ability to light up the scoreboard from behind the 3-point arc. Had a solid day shooting from distance but also showed he can use his size to his advantage at the defensive end and on the boards.
Jared Mocaby, 5’11, PG, 2019, Derby (Kan.)
Heady point guard type with good leadership qualities and intangibles. Can really shoot it well from the perimeter. Shows good form and balance on his outside game. Solid with the ball, doesn’t get rattled and turn it over. Needs to get a little quicker with the ball. Opponents are quick to overplay his drive and shut him off as he looks to get to the basket.
Keyon Thomas, 5’9, 2019, Bonner Springs (Kan.)
Left handed point guard with elite speed and quickness, Thomas easily beat opponents down the court for lay-ups in transition. He plays with good leadership and poise and has a high basketball IQ. Showcased a smooth left-handed 3-point stroke.
